>> The 39 Dollar Experiment
Long-term listeners will know that I like a site which tells the story of a pointless quest, so here’s one which treads that fine line between “entertaining ingenuity” and “way too much time on his hands”.
What we have here is an ordinary bloke somewhere in the States, who has a book of postage stamps worth 39 dollars. He decides to use his stamps to write to 100 different companies requesting free samples of their products.
Just a few weeks into the experiment, and he has so far received free stuff from 21 companies worth $137.41. The site carries the text of all 100 begging letters and tells you exactly which companies came up with the goods!
