Website of the Day: Wednesday 23rd March
>> pi-tag.com
This site offers a free and secure service to help you tag anything from luggage to keys, laptops and even pets. You’re allocated a unique number which is linked to your contact details. If you lose a tagged item, then the finder can contact you via the site, but (if you choose) your contact details stay secret.
I've recently registered at pi-tag.com and thought it was a very good looking site - making the most of a very good idea. I think its great that you needn't buy any tags from pi-tag.com if you don't want to - but you can still make the most of the site by registering for free.
I hope the number of pi-tag users continues to increase so that my number becomes one of the lowest!

I've been looking for luggage tags for a holiday coming up soon (can't wait!) and found pi-tag.com through the Radio 2 site. Although pi-tag.com now charge to register - it only costs £9.99 for a year - and you get to choose 2 tags for that price. Once you've been allocated a pi-tag ID, it is yours for life - as long as you keep renewing your membership.
pi-tag.com has just launched a telephone service that allows people to contact you. I've just rung it and it is all automated - you just use your telephone buttons to say that you want to record a message for someone and then the message is emailed to the owner of the pi-tag ID. Just tried it to myself and it seems to work well.
You can also enter information online to help people to contact you - like the telephone number for where you're staying.
I know there are other similar sites but I think this is the first to boast about protecting your privacy. I got the tags yesterday and they look good. Hopefully I won't lose any bags when I'm away but at least I can be confident of getting them back if I should be so unlucky.
