Website of the Day: Tuesday 22nd February 2005
>> Book Crossing
I first mentioned this site nearly three years ago, and where Radio 2 leads, Australia’s leading soap follows; Book Crossing featured in a Neighbours storyline last week! Aimed at book lovers, the site invites you to “Set your books free and make the whole world a library” – The idea is that when you’re finished with a book, instead of letting it languish on a shelf, you pass it on by leaving it in a public place for a stranger to find and enjoy. Each book is allocated a unique ID number so you can track its progress and find reviews from other readers.
It's fantastic for BookCrossing to be Website of the Day - many thanks Miles from all the UK Bookcrossers!

Excellent choice for website of the day! It looks like BBC local Radio followed your lead too, Southern Counties also featured Bookcrossing today.

Excellent choice Miles! BookCrossing is a fantastic idea and there's a huge global community of BookCrossers out there, releasing their books into the wild!

Thank you for promoting this great website. The more bookcrossers, the better! What could be better than tracking a book you have read on its journey around the world?

Brillant! I think BookCrossing is fabulous! (And I think on-line listening to BBC is a great option as I live overseas.) Thanks!

Thanks for advertising this wonderful site!
I've recently moved to Switzerland, and thanks to Bookcrossing I've made lots of friends and find english books to read. It's also encouraged me to take a good look at my shelves and wonder if many books wouldn't be better making others happy, so they're now available to anybody :)

As an ex-pat Brit, I was very interested to see that the Beeb named BookCrossing.com as website of the day. You beat the Aussies by a mile too! ;) It's a wonderful to think that in this day and age of videogames and mindless TV Reality shows, people still care enough about books to share a favourite with a complete stranger, perhaps someone in a different part of the world.

This is such a great web site. Why doens't the government give it some funding as it supports literacy for everyone and it's free!!!!
Has anyone got Ruth Kelly's e-mail address?
